Leaving the BioResource is simple. You can withdraw at any time – no explanation needed.
How to leave the BioResource
How to withdraw
You can leave by:
- Filling out our online withdrawal form
- Emailing us at [email protected] (please include your full name and year of birth)
- Calling us on 0800 090 22 33
What happens to your samples and data
When you withdraw, you’ll be asked to choose one of the following:
- Option A: No further contact
You’ll no longer be contacted for research, but your existing samples and data will still be used. - Option B: No further use
Your centrally stored samples will be destroyed, and your data will no longer be used in research (where possible).
About your samples
If you choose No further use:
- Only samples stored at our central facility can be destroyed
- Samples already tested or shared with researchers can’t be retrieved
- No new data will be added to your record
- Samples are not labelled with personal information
About your data
If you choose No further contact:
- Most of your contact details will be removed (some kept for audit)
- You won’t be invited to future studies
- Your data may still be used in research that doesn’t involve contacting you
- Existing data will continue to be generated from your future health, medical, social and educational records
If you choose No further use:
- Your contact details will be deleted, but a minimal record will be kept for audit
- Your research data will no longer be used or linked to you
- Archived data can’t be deleted but won’t be used again
- No further data will be retrieved from your health-related, social and educational records
- Data already shared with researchers can’t be recalled, but we’ll stop any new sharing where possible
If we don’t receive clear instructions, we’ll default to No further contact, keeping your samples and data for research, but not contacting you again.
