Working at the BioResource

At the NIHR BioResource, every member of the team helps us achieve our mission of facilitating human health research and its transformation into medical practice. That means bringing people together and leading research to help understand the links between our genes, the environment, health and disease.

Each one of us is unique and has their own particular set of skills which they are keen to develop. Combined we are a positive, motivated and creative team focused on our role in improving healthcare. Find out more about the BioResource team.

Staff benefits

As we are hosted by the University of Cambridge, working at the NIHR BioResource opens up a wide range of attractive benefits for staff.

Greatly valuing the positive wellbeing of our employees, we offer benefits ranging from family leave entitlement, to a generous annual leave package* and career break schemes for academic and academic-related staff, with additional flexible working policies for all other staff. The University offers access to a number of tax-efficient pension arrangements for all staff*. Furthermore, as a staff member you will be eligible to participate in the Cycle to Work scheme. For those with families, you may be eligible to pay for childcare fees through the Workplace Salary Exchange Scheme.

National and local collaboration opportunities

The NIHR BioResource is primarily funded through the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR), the nation’s largest funder of health and care research and the research arm of NHS England, in turn funded through the Department of Health and Social Care. BioResource staff have the opportunity to collaborate with counterparts in NIHR-funded infrastructure across England via well-established networks, including events, webinars and training courses. Working at the BioResource means you are part of a vast ecosystem both in Cambridge via the University and nationally via the NIHR, working to improve the health and wellbeing of the nation by working in health research.
