Acknowledging the BioResource

The NIHR BioResource should be acknowledged in all publications resulting from any study that we have supported. Any press releases including social media posts based on studies that we have supported should acknowledge the NIHR BioResource.

Acknowledgement text for publications

Please use the following wording in the acknowledgements section of any publications making use of BioResource participants, samples or data:

"We thank NIHR BioResource volunteers for their participation, and gratefully acknowledge NIHR BioResource centres, NHS Trusts and staff for their contribution. We thank the National Institute for Health and Care Research, NHS Blood and Transplant, and Health Data Research UK as part of the Digital Innovation Hub Programme. The views expressed are those of the author(s) and not necessarily those of the NHS, the NIHR or the Department of Health and Social Care."

Consortium citation

Any manuscript that makes substantial use of primary data from the NIHR BioResource should include the NIHR BioResource Consortium as an author.

The position of the Consortium citation within the authorship list is to be agreed with the BioResource Publications Committee on a case-by-case basis.

Publication Costs

Where the NIHR BioResource is acknowledged, the BioResource is unable to pay or contribute to the costs associated with publications arising from studies.

Where the NIHR BioResource is a named author, the BioResource will contribute up to a third of the publication costs upon the production of a suitable invoice.
