Summary
The current COVID-19 pandemic represents a significant threat to public health. At present the underlying disease mechanisms are not well understood. Only through a better understanding of the underlying molecular pathways involved will it be possible to identify novel specific therapeutic targets and a rational basis for vaccine development.
To address this, we will apply state of the art analytical approaches to patient samples from the NIHR BioResource COVID-19 cohort and combine these with detailed clinical data to identify factors that drive the development and outcome of COVID-19.
