Study summary

The purpose of this study is to find the genes involved in causing a chronic liver disease called Primary Biliary Cirrhosis (PBC). This will help researchers to understand the basic causes of PBC. In turn, this knowledge will help researchers to develop better treatments for the disease.

Participation: For this study we recruited 18 female volunteers aged 40-85 from the Cambridge BioResource to give a 25ml blood sample.

Organisation: This study is organised by Dr Richard Sandford from the University of Cambridge.
