About MASLD BioResource

MASLD (previously known as Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, or NAFLD), is a liver disease that ranges from fatty liver to severe scarring (cirrhosis). People at any stage can join the BioResource if their diagnosis is confirmed by tests such as blood work, imaging, or biopsy.

Participants consent to research, give a blood sample, and complete a health and lifestyle questionnaire to help researchers study genetic and environmental influences on the disease.

Key Goals

  • Recruit 7,500 participants across the MASLD spectrum
  • Open sites nationally to ensure as many participants as possible can take part
  • 85 active recruitment sites
  • Support interesting Stage 2 studies that will improve our understanding of MASLD

Researcher focus on MASLD

Researchers can apply to access the MASLD BioResource to investigate indicators or patterns linked to disease severity or treatment response. This work supports the development of better treatments and improved patient care.
